Traffic Ticket Defense Attorney in Louisville, Kentucky

I am in Traffic Court almost every day. I enjoy the interaction with prosecutors, police, witnesses, Judges and the clerks. As a former Traffic Court prosecutor and Director of the DUI Jury Trial Division, I understand the scrutiny and the demands placed on traffic court prosecutors. Often prosecutors are trying to help victims of traffic accidents secure restitution, remove dangerous impaired drivers from the roadways, teach young drivers about driving responsibly, and enforcing laws ranging from parking tickets to charges of wanton endangerment or leaving the scene of an accident. I have not only served as a traffic court prosecutor in this state's busiest court system, I wrote the trial manual on how to prosecute impaired drivers for the Attorney General's Office and the state prosecutor's association.

I was the only criminal defense attorney in Kentucky to serve on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Gold Standards Committee. As your lawyer, I understand that your livelihood is often dependant on your ability to drive to and from work, school, and home. It is not unusual for clients to advise me that a conviction of the offense charged will result in their loss of license, affordable insurance coverage, or their employment. Employers often require employees to provide proof of a clean driving record in order to operate company vehicles or receive compensation for use of the employee's own vehicle. In addition, many client's cannot afford to take off work for two or three court appearances.

Most traffic cases can be resolved without the necessity of the client appearing in court. Because of crushing caseloads, a person accused of a traffic court offense may find themselves waiting weeks before a charge is resolved. As your attorney, I will talk with you about your charges and possible defenses. I will examine the prosecutor's case and the allegation of witnesses. I will work with you to achieve the best realistic outcome of the charges. Fortunately, experienced lawyers can evaluate your case and work to resolve your case with the least punitive consequences. For example some speeding cases may be resolved with a dismissal, a referral to traffic school, a referral to a diversion program, an amendment to a nonmoving violation with no points on a driver's license. The best method to protect your rights and resolve your case is to meet with your attorney and advise the attorney of every detail involving the charges against you. Only after you have spoken with your lawyer and your lawyer has reviewed the charges and talked to the witnesses and the prosecutor will your case be ripe to resolve or set for a trial. Please give me a call, the initial consultation is free.
