HOW TO BE A GOOD CLIENT
Rule 1. Do not talk to the police, witnesses, prosecutors or court personnel without your lawyer being present. Do not have others contact anyone without your attorney's approval.
Rule 2. Tell your attorney everything. Do not hold back any information. Your attorney will know what is significant or insignificant. Provide every detail no matter how small to your lawyer. Help your lawyer become the most informed person in your case.
Rule 3. Keep in contact with your attorney. Always provide your attorney with your current contact information. If you move or change your telephone numbers advise your attorney immediately. Do not wait to hear from your attorney-be proactive.
Rule 4. If you do not understand something, ask your attorney.
Rule 5. Follow all the rules of the court. If you make a mistake do not wait to address it. Call your attorney immediately.
Rule 6. Be respectful. If you are stopped by the police be polite. Respectfully hand the officer my card and ask them to contact me if they start asking you questions beyond reviewing your driver's license or identification. Even if I am unavailable, be polite and respectfully refuse to answer questions that may incriminate you.
Rule 7. Be respectful of the Court. Appear in court on time, dressed appropriately, and with your cell phone turned off. Be respectful of my time by attending your appointments with me on time. If you have a family member or friend who has been arrested, if you are involved in an accident, please call me immediately. Do not wait.
Rule 8. Items not to bring to court:
- guns
- knives
- box cutters
- hand cuff keys
- tools
- glass bottles
- unauthorized badges
- sharp items or anything else that may be used as a weapon
- Drugs or medications not in their original prescription bottles
What to expect upon entering the Courthouse
When entering either the Hall of Justice or the Judicial Center, the following Items must be removed before going through the metal detectors:
- wallets
- keys
- coins
- cellular phones
- pagers
- cigarettes
- lighters
- any foil packages
- batteries
- watches
- metal belt buckles
If after removing these items, you still set off the metal detector, you may be scanned with a metal detector wand.
All bags, purses and umbrellas will have to be scanned by the x-ray machine.
* Please advise officers if you are wearing steel toed shoes.
* Also advise officers if you have a medical condition that prohibits you from walking through a magnetometer (metal detector)
REMEMBER
Please be aware that the Federal Government may deny financial aid for college/technical schools for any drug related conviction.
If you are on probation/parole-even just a criminal charge may result in your revocation.
If you are in this country illegally, your charge/conviction may result in your deportation.
If you move or change your phone number, I must be notified immediately
